I have an app which is loading a fair amount of data, and I've applied all manor of tweaks to refine and optimise the loading time, but it's a little difficult to measure because performance sometimes seems to fluctuate enormously whether I've changed anything or not.
As an example, I published some changes this morning. Performance was suddenly terrible - 1 minute or more to load the app, buttons within that app that call data also take ages, etc. I immediately assumed I'd done something wrong and dived into the app to work out what I'd changed.
An hour later, I've not published or changed anything, but performance is suddenly great again.
I've ruled out the network by trying the app on a different network - on my mobile in fact. Performance of the app is consistently fast or slow across networks and devices, suggesting it's not related to activity.
What factors influence performance of my apps when nothing has changed? Since I'm pulling data from SharePoint (365, not on prem), can activity on SharePoint affect it? Anything else?
