466Greetings, community. I am trying to figure out Microsoft's licensing in relation to Microsoft Fabric and the Power Platform and am in need of some assistance. Here's the scenario along with a solution image.
LICENSING BACKGROUND
My organization has a Power BI Premium P1 SKU capacity that includes Microsoft Fabric. We also have a lot of users with E5 licenses that include Power BI Pro along with “standard” (AKA non-premium connector) licenses for apps like Power Apps and Power Automate.
SOLUTION BACKGROUND
I have a Power Apps canvas app that saves data to a SharePoint site. That data gets synced into a Fabric Data Warehouse via Fabric Gen 2 dataflows. That data is then surfaced in a Power BI semantic model built on the DW. I want Power Automate to then use the Run a Query action to read data from the Fabric semantic model and update SharePoint. I also want a Power Apps canvas app user to be able to get data from Fabric semantic model via the same Power Automate action.
LICENSING QUESTION
Since we are already paying for the Fabric SQL DW via Power BI P1 SKU, are our users with M365 licenses able to interact with the Fabric SQL DB/DW in the way described above? Or is this considered multiplexing and users would need paid premium licenses?
Normally, I know direct interaction with SQL via Power Apps or Power Automate requires all users have premium licenses for those applications.
