Unallocated AI Builder credits when selling a Power App on Appsource

I am considering building a Power App and selling it to other SMB's on Microsoft Appsource. I would like to use an AI builder document processing model and have roughly calculated each SMB requiring 500-1000 pages to be processed per month.

If I purchase AI Builder units, can I have these assigned to different SMB's which purchase my app? Or does that breach environment/tenant boundaries? - Thanks! - AK2401

    Hi there!

Unfortunately that is not possible. The buyer of your app would need to buy the needed licenses themselves (Power App license, but also the AI builder add-on).

Hi Tjan. Thanks for your response. It’s a shame because the $500 minimum add-on really prices out the SMB market. Plus even if they can afford it, they would very rarely process 10,000 pages to make use of all the credits, so there would be a lot of wasteage. Are there any plans at Microsoft to bring in lower tiers? - Thanks

@AK2401 As for as I know, there is no alternative to this add-on. Hoping for a pay-as-you-go option in the future. Fingers crossed!

If my solution helped you, would you be so kind to mark it as 'solved' and give it a like? Thank you so much!

@Tjan @I’m looking at Azure AI document Intelligence as a workaround, as this is priced on a consumption basis! Thoughts?

@AK2401  If you have access to Azure AI: great option! It requires a bit more technical knowledge, but if you have the capabilities to do that, then definitely do it! In the end AI builder is based on Azure AI technology, so eventually it wouldn't differ a lot. Just the experience is different. AI builder is more for citizen devs, while Azure AI is more for "(semi) pro devs".
