Minimum SharePoint site permissions to use a PowerApps form

Hi All,

We are creating a PowerApps form that will be used by many users in the company. The PowerApps form relies heavily on document libraries and lists on a particular SharePoint site. The PowerApps form creates new list items and renames documents. If any of the users edit list items on the SharePoint site it will more than likely break the PowerApps form.

My question is what is the minimum SharePoint permissions level I need to give the users so they can fill in the PowerApps form? I would like to give them read-only, but will they be able to use the PowerApps form that creates new items on the SharePoint site? Maybe the PowerApps uses an Admin or its own credentials to add items on the SharePoint site?

Power Apps does not provide for elevation of security, so user's must have the same permissions to do things in a Power App that they would need to do it in the list or library itself. So in general the minimum permission level required is "Contribute". There are suggestions about how to hide the list from the user, but they must have the permissions required to work with the list.

Hi Pstork1,

The users only need to add and not amend or delete items. I may create a custom SharePoint permissions level by copying read-only permissions level with the add new item selected. It would also be good if I could also hide the list from prying eyes.

I know how to create a SharePoint custom permissions level, but how would I go about also hiding the list and would this effect the PowerApps form?

If they don't need edit or delete then you can definitely create a custom permission level based on contribute that removes those permissions.

Is this a SharePoint Integrated form or a standalone Power App? If its an Integrated from then you really can't hide the list since users will need to access the list to get to the form. If its a regular Power App then there are ways to hide the list in SharePoint so its hard for users to find it.

How can one go about hiding the list for a regular Power App form when the list lives in a membership only Teams Site?
