How to fix Correlation Id: cac21a92-10a0-43ad-af06-1f038c0095ac - Failed to create new tab

This started after the most recent update to PAD (before the most recent update this flow has been runing for over 11 months with no issues it performed as expected since I created it). The flow for this is that I start a chrome brower and then have PAD work the page then once complete move on to the next page that it would need to work as a new tab in Chrome. However if the new tab has a specific key work that has been pulled from it then PAD will close that tab via

"MouseAndKeyboard.SendKeys.FocusAndSendKeysByInstanceOrHandle WindowInstance: ChromeTM3DispatchTab TextToSend: $'''{Control}({F4}))''' DelayBetweenKeystrokes: 10 SendTextAsHardwareKeys: False"

once closed the original or last tab that would need to be reviewed after the flow finishes is still open (have had as many as 70 tabs open in the past with this flow with no issues) the error is thrown on the next attempt to open a new tab after the previous was closed with Control F4 on the some instance of the browser. The error thrown is Failed to create new tab Correlation Id: cac21a92-10a0-43ad-af06-1f038c0095ac.

So very confused and frustrated because if I don't close the previous tab it runs as it always has, also will run just fine if the previous broswer instance was closed. The error is only thrown when the broswer instance remains after closing the previous tab.

Can you share a screenshot of your flow?

When the new tab is created, do you use a new variable for the browser instance, or do you overwrite the same variable for the original browser instance created via Launch new Chrome?

Do you have the installer for the previous version of PAD to try and roll back, to see if it still works on the previous version?

If you haven't really changed anything about the flow and it started failing after the update, it might be a bug that you should report to MS support. They might be able to fix it, as well as provide you with the installer for the previous version, if you don't have it.

I will have to put this in 3 parts can only put 3 attachments at a time. But will explain on this message what I have attached.
Line 34 is the initial browser creation then the select parameters window for that. I have never used a new variable for the browser instance. This will run over and over even if it was previously closed earlier in the loop. If the browser does not get closed it will run line 9-17 one time then the second time through after the browser is closer it throws the error. I hope the order and the code snipits help show what you are looking for. Only thing that is blacked out is the web address which I can't share but I also checked and there has been no change with our application web address to be causing the error.
The second set of images is the error details section, the line where the error is occuring, and the select parameters window for that line. The final screen shot will be the grouping of code that will run once before throwing the error when looping through the next part.

Generally, it is not recommended to use the same variable for different browser instances. The thing is that your instance variable (%ChromeTMD3DispatchTab%) will not be empty if it has been instantiated, but if the related tab has been closed, it will also not work. Try adding an additional IF statement to check if %ChromeTMD3Dispatch.Handle% is not equal to -1. When the instance has been initialized, but the browser is closed, the .Handle property will be -1. This means you will not be able to create a new tab using this instance and need to use Launch new Chrome to either launch a new tab, or attach to an existing one before you can use Create new tab.

Please be aware that the browser instance variable will not have a .Handle property if it is empty (not initialized yet), so you need to check for both - first if it's not empty and then if the .Handle property is not equal to 1.

Alternatively, you can simply always keep using Launch new Chrome. If you already have tabs open, launching a new instance of Chrome will simply create a new tab. This would simplify your flow.

This has been running perfectly for almost a year with no issues until now. I did try one other thing and Found that the Variable value for the inital web browser open command gives ".Handle 8392266 . IsAlive True" then the first time through 8-17 the same variable vaule is still ".Handle 8392266 . IsAlive True" until it is closed using F4 line 15. Then the second time through the ".Handle 8392266 . IsAlive False"
I have multiple Chrome windows open and to make this flow useful all the tabs need to be on the inital web browser instance that this flow opens and the only way that worked when creating it was how the code is written. And again it has worked perfectly until this last update about 3 days ago on my PAD.
Is there a way to force the variable value to have .IsAlive True with a command entered in line 9 pushing the create new tab down to line 10. If the .IsAlive is True I have a feeling that would fix my error that came out of no where.

You cannot force the .IsAlive to be true, but you can check if it is true via a condition (similarly to what I suggested above). If the variable is not empty (you're already checking that) AND .IsAlive is true (you need an extra condition for this), then you can use it to create a new tab. If it's not, then you need to use Launch new Chrome first to attach to an existing window and get the instance alive again, before you can create a new tab.

I am sorry I misread your information. The flow does attach the new tab to an existing browser instance not a new browser. So the flow checks to see if there is an existing (%ChromeTMD3DispatchTab%) browser if it is empty then it jumps to line 34 where a new browser is launched, if (%ChromeTMD3DispatchTab%) is not empty meaning that original browser from line 34 is open still then it opens a new tab in the line 34 browser instance.

The error comes in when a tab on the inital browser from line 34 is closed and then the flow is to open a new tab on the existing browser (%ChromeTMD3DispatchTab%). Again it has been running smooth with no issues at all until just the other day and I worte this flow over 11 months ago and use it daily and sometimes twice a day for my job and never an issue like this.

Yes, but as you have seen yourself, the browser instance variable is not empty, if it has already been initialized. When you close the browser, the .IsAlive property turns to false, but its value is not empty. So, your condition is not good enough to handle for a browser instance that has been closed. It only works for the very first run, when no browser has been launched yet.
