"Network error when using patch function. The specified column is generated by the server and can't be specified"

Hi All, I am running into a wierd issue in my canvas app. I am trying to create a new SPO DocumentSet record from the canvas app and then leveraging submitform to submit the new form to have the record created.
The error I am getting is as follows:

Also sometimes the app is throwing me this error:

Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. Tried creating a new very basic document-library on multiple SPO sites and observed the similar issue
  2. When creating a document-set record from SPO directly works, so definitely an issue from canvas app.
  3. Used customize-form experience by clicking on the Integrate button within my document library, save and published the auto-generated SPO integrated canvas app, same issue:

  4. Tried manually patching the data using patch function in the app, same issue. Also tried using hard-coded values as well without any luck.
    1. Patch(
      'source1',
      Defaults('source1'),
      {
      Name:DataCardValue9.Text,
      }
      )
Any help is appreciated!!

    I have a suspicion that the column may have been renamed at some point. If this is the case, the code will have to match the original column name. If the column is originally named col1 and you change it to FullName for example, SP may not change the actual back-end value and rather just change the label associated with it. This happened to me a while back and I noticed it when checking the output of a GetItems function in Power Automate. This is the only way i personally know how to check for this.

    1. Open power automate and create a new flow.
    2. Add a step called Get Items (is a sharepoint function)
    3. Run the flow which should execute easily as there is only one step
    4. Once it completes click on download output and search for the value you expect in the first item of the list.

    If you are looking for "John Doe" for example and expect the column to be called FirstName then ctrl-f and search for John Doe. Once you find this the Json will have the true column name that SP associates with the column and you can just change your code to that and it should work from there. Super annoying little bug/feature.

    Hope this solves your issue!

    Hi @mmollet ,

    Thanks for replying.

    The troubleshooting steps makes sense, however I am a bit confused on how to use GetItems for getting multiple document-sets. I think Get Items needs a List name to execute:

    Please advice.

    You are correct on that! Sorry I am used to people working with SP Lists and I was just stuck in that mind set. I am not sure when working with document-sets actually. This error just looked familiar and the issue was a renamed column when this occured to me. If I find anything that may help I will be sure to post a link to it here. Sorry for the confusion. 😅
