Data Source Environment Variables - Connect to SharePoint Document Library for use in Power Automate Word Online Connectors

Hi,

I have successfully created a data source environment variable which connects to a SharePoint list from a SharePoint connection within Power Automate.

However I would now like to do the same for the Word Online Convert Word Document to PDF action and connect to a SharePoint document library using a data source environment variable. I get an error which includes "the provided drive id appears to be malformed". It appears the document library id (drive) in the raw inputs is a different value to the document library id.

Has anyone successfully achieved this scenario using the Word Online connector in Power Automate?

Thanks,

Mark

    Hi @sips1 ,

    What are you sending as the parameter from Power Apps? You should be able to send the Library Name and folder path the same as it would appear in the "target" dialogue in the Flow Word merge.

    Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

    Hi, thanks for your response.

    No parameters are being sent from Power Apps the values are environment variables in a solution.

    Library Name and folder path do not work in this scenario.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi @sips1 ,

    Sorry I do not use that process so I will leave it to others who may.

    Almost a year and no documented answer?  Have you ever found one?

    I have the same issue with the Excel for business connector to create a table. From what I can see, it's because it's not using a string to locate the document library, but instead, it's looking for a "drive" GUID string (it doesn't appear like a typical guid).   This isn't super helpful or straight forward.  I suppose I could try and find the drive guid for the target destination and then make a separate environment variable for it.  I really don't feel like this is the best solution.  This is the input into a successful use of the Excel for Business connector:

    {
        "host": {
            "connectionReferenceName": "shared_excelonlinebusiness",
            "operationId": "CreateTable"
        },
        "parameters": {
            "source": "sites/OurComapny.com/GUID",
            "drive": "b!_tM[... lots of random characters...]Lc",
            "file": "filelocationandname.xlsx",
            "table/Range": "'Tab!Range1:Range2",
            "table/TableName": "TableName"
        }
    }

    @stevenpfeifer did you ever get a solution to this?
    I'm happy to use an environment variable (I think I may actually need to, for a flow trigger), but I can't for the life of me figure out how to create one for a drive ID!

    Hi,

    I had to use an Text environment variable. To get the drive value I have to create a new flow in the destination environment and create an action then peek code to see the drive GUID. I then have to use this value in the environment variable.

    It works but it's not a consistent experience with the SharePoint connector and the data source environment variable which is better.  It's not a great solution but it is the only solution as far as I can see for the Word and Excel Online connectors in an ALM scenario.

    We have the same problem with the Word Automation Services. The action expects the drive ID. We created first the action without variable and copied the ID out (you need to do this for each environment). ID.png
