Is there a 'best practice' method to sending e-mails from a flow via Dynamics?

Apologies if this ends up being a double post - could have sworn I posted it earlier today, but now cannot see it at all.

Hello all,

I'm currently working on a flow that is designed to trigger when 2 fields are populated, and when the 3rd is set to yes.

That part is working as I would want, but I'm struggling a little with the mail generation part.

The idea is to call a template that I need to create, and that aspect doesn't seem to be too difficult.

However I am wondering if I am making this more difficult that it needs to be, and whether there is a far more straightforward method I should be employing? I am currently using an unbound action.

The e-mail needs to come from a central mailbox as opposed to an owner etc, any tips on how to effectively hard code an e-mail address for the sender wouldn't go amiss either - unless I should try and hard code it into the template?

As I have cloned it from an existing setup I found online, this is the current config:

Any pearls of wisdom that people who have worked on these kind of flows before would be much appreciated.

Is the unbound action the best or only way to send these messages, or should I be looking at another method?

Thanks

Dan

Thankyou for that, not a page I have come across before, I will investigate it this afternoon 🙂

In the meantime I had been trying to simplify the flow somewhat, so this is what I was currently trying to work with, but it refuses to actually send.

I also found another blog post which mentioend about the CDS connections, and the need to create your flows within the solution - I had thought you could copy, and import in, but it seems not, so I created the above within the solution that has the CDS entries.

    This is the error:

An error occurred while validating input parameters: Microsoft.Crm.CrmHttpException: Resource not found for the segment 'mailaddressaltered@mydomain.org.uk'.
at Microsoft.Crm.Extensibility.OData.CrmEdmEntityReference.CreateCrmEdmEntityReference(Uri link, IEdmModel edmModel, CrmODataExecutionContext context, EntitySetSegment& entitySetSegment)

at System.Web.OData.Formatter.ODataMediaTypeFormatter.ReadFromStream(Type type, Stream readStream, HttpContent content, IFormatterLogger formatterLogger)

I suspect I am missing something pretty obvious.

Also, I notice that link you sent is to use SendTemplate which I have tried before, but that Part 1 is around sending individual e-mails, so perhaps I should look to do that instead, as it will be looking at these updates on an individual basis?

Is setting the e-mail address up as a variable a legitimate way of tackling this, or should i just be looking to hardcode it in to the flow?
