Power Apps: Hidden Choice Fields Submit as Blank in Conditional Forms – Fix

In my Power Apps form connected to a SharePoint list, Choice fields (implemented using Dropdown or ComboBox controls) are being treated as **null or blank** when their DataCards are hidden. My form has multiple groups of fields shown conditionally based on button selection. When a user edits an existing record and submits the form without opening all groups, Power Apps considers the hidden Choice fields as blank, even though those fields already have values in the record. This causes validation errors such as “some mandatory fields are not populated,” because hidden Choice controls do not initialize their .Selected or .Selected.Value until they become visible. How to fix this issue?

Hi @SK-31101421-0,

Firstly the Visible property of a control on a form does not affect its operation, so the problem lies elsewhere. Please post (in Text) the Items, Displayfields, DefaultSelectedItems (or Default if classic Dropdown) and Update of the data card. Also whether you use Patch (if so include the code) or SubmitForm to save the Form

Has there been any update to this? I seem to be having the same issue?

As soon as the form field is hidden, the Submit Form overwrites the choices column in the list with a blank. Change the datacard property to visible and the save function works fine.

Anyone else having this problem? would love some pointers to what I could be doing wrong?
