Tricky concept not letting me build flow- SP list cannot feeds another SP list

Hi Community,

I have 2 SharePoint lists- one is "Request Intake" and the other is "Report Catalog".

The idea is that our customers will go to SP list "Request Intake" and fill their request details in 10 fields such as Report Name, Report Description, Business Purpose etc.

Then once the request is created (item submitted) in SP list- flow would send the values of these 10 fields to another SP list "Report Catalog"- now the issue is that this list has 37 columns, of which 27 are mandatory and so flow will not allow me to just map 10 columns coming from Request Intake list which are mandatory and leave other 10 mandatory columns as blank. This Report Catalog list is to be updated by our team- but our team doesn't want to fill the values for 10 fields which should come from customer.

Now, if this was a new request i can hard-code dummy values in Report Catalogue list for the other 10 mandatory fields for the flow to run and then our team member can fill the values for remaining columns. However, if there was a modification to the original request in Request Intake list after our team member has already updated the Report Catalogue list then we only want to change the 10 columns that should come from the Report Intake list without making changes to any other columns in Report Catalogue list which has been changed by our team already.

How should i proceed? If it is not making sense, i can try sharing the process map i have in my mind- please suggest!

    Hi @Anonymous

In this instance do a Get List Record for that particular record before the Update action step. Then under the update action step map the mandatory values required from the existing record.

    Thanks
