Simple Process that I can’t Figure out.

Assuming this is something simple but I can’t for the life of me find a solution.

I have a list of users in a share point list that I need to be able to sequential run through. There are 2 columns (primary and backup). Every week the next group is selected to perform the task. I need to then alternate the primary and back up the following time through the list. The final step would be to send an email to the primary and the secondary based on who is in the list.

I have found some videos with round robin flow but that was more about assigning from a list to tasks that keep coming in. I was looking to assign the same task over and over again. I am willing to break this into multiple flows (I.e just pull the value from the list in one flow, and then a second one to perform the email task).

Any help would be appreciated, will even take recommendations for videos to watch as I try to learn power automate.

Thank you!

    One thing you could try is to use a modulo operator to generate the row to use each week. If you have 12 rows in your list, you will use this expression:

    add(mod(div(dayOfYear(utcNow()), 7), 12),1)

     The 1 at the end is needed because by default it starts counting at zero. By adding 1 it returns 1-12. Change 12 to however many rows are in your list, and change 1 to a value that corresponds to the ID values in your list. If your list is brand new and you have not deleted any rows, then you should have rows 1-12.

    If you go with this approach, I would change the permissions on it so no rows can be deleted. If you add rows, you will need to remember to adjust the expression.

    Switching the values could be tricky. So the easiest thing may be to add 12 more rows and just reverse the names in the list and then adjust the expression to add(mod(div(dayOfYear(utcNow()), 7), 24),1) so it cycles through all 24 rows.

    The idea is that the number generated will be used with a Get item action and the value will be used in the ID field to pull the correct row.
