Multiple Issues!

Hi all!

I have been tasked with creating an app which would help support the recording of attendance for courses. After getting the basics down I am now stuck!

My first issue is on screen 1 (attached) and I would like to have the option to search, filter and sort. The list of courses would eventually be long and therefore these functions would be useful.

After selecting an arrow next to the name of the course I would like it to transition to Screen 2 (attached). This displays the dates of the courses. At the moment it displays all the dates within the course date column and I would like to change this to show only the dates relevant to the course selected on screen 1.

After selecting the correct date I would like it to transition to screen 3 (attached) to show the delegate list based on the course selected in screen 1 and the date selected in screen 2.  I have managed to get the drop down to function but would like this to populate the spreadsheet so that I could download the spreadsheet and upload it into the training system we currently have.  I also do not know how to align the drop downs to each of the delegates.

Can anyone help? Happy to provide cute puppy pictures as tax!

Thank you

    Hi @Anonymous ,

For the first issue you have the documentation for Filter, Search and LookUp function here.

The Search function is useful to find partial matches of data, and its Syntax goes as follows:

    Search( Table, SearchString, Column1 [, Column2, ... ] )

    • Table - Required. Table to search.
    • SearchString - Required. The string to search for. If blank or an empty string, all records are returned.
    • Column(s) - Required. The names of columns within Table to search. Columns to search must contain text. Column names must be strings and enclosed in double quotes. However, the column names must be static and cannot be calculated with a formula. If SearchString is found within the data of any of these columns as a partial match, the full record will be returned.

For the second issue I believe this can be easily accomplished using the Filter function, and using a variable to track your progress which can be done using the Set function.

The syntax of the Filter function goes as follows:

    Filter( Table, Formula1 [, Formula2, ... ] )

    • Table - Required. Table to search.
    • Formula(s) - Required. The formula by which each record of the table is evaluated. The function returns all records that result in true. You can reference columns within the table. If you supply more than one formula, the results of all formulas are combined with the And function.

You can use this to filter the results when navigating between screens, so you can filter for the data that is relevant to the selected course. You can store the chosen course and date in variables for later reference by using the Set function as mentioned previously.

For your final problem for the DropDowns you could try and use the Filter function as well to get the correct data to display depending on the delegate.

To download the data there are several ways to achieve this. If you have this data saved in for example a SharePoint list you could try and use the Download function where you would need to provide the address of the resource to download.

If you want to save the data directly from PowerApps into lets say an Excel file, you do not have a direct way of doing so. You would need to incorporate with PowerAutomate to achieve this. There are some good suggestions that you could try in this Community Post.

Let me know if this answer helped you move forward!

    Regards,

    Ricardo
