'Wait for image' doesn't throw exception 'Wait for image failed' even if image doesn't appear

Hello!

Is there somebody who can tell me how to use 'Wait for image' and get the exception 'Wait for image failed' if the expected image is not on the foreground window?

I have to automate some desktop process using visual UI (Webswing, like Citrix, no access to UI elements). So I have to work with image recognition, 'wait for image', 'if image', 'Move mouse to image' and so on.

To understand how this actions work I read 'Desktop actions reference' and made some small test scenarios. But even the simplest test doesn't work as expected.

My simple test scenario:

simple processsimple process

actionaction

window for testwindow for test

Expected behavior: Image is found instantly

Real behavior: same as expected, result:  grafik.png

Now I minimize the ribbon and test again:  grafik.png

Expected behavior: Exception thrown after 10s waiting time.

Real behavior: Image seems to be found instantly, result:   grafik.png

    hello @eschoebitz

would you mind trying the same test with a photo on the canvas ? i.e. before: search on blank canvas, after: search on filled canvas. And let us know what you find out ?

    Hello aminab-msft,

    thank you for your answer.

Meanwhile I found a way to work with this action: grafik.png

Parameter "Image matching algorithm" has to be set to "Basic" for proper working; "Advanced" doesn't work.

Furthermore, produced variables are not correct: X and Y are changed and even with "Foreground Window only" gives the coordinates of the hole screen. I can send you details in the next days.

    Best wishes eschoebitz
