Using an Output from one Flow in another Flow / Or inside a parallel branch

Hi guys, Im trying to build a flow, where i have a parallel branch running.

First branch:

  • Gets Attachement of incoming email
  • Converts Time
  • Saves the File on onedrive with a Specific constructed Name (this one is important)

Second branch:

  • Gets the Mail informations
  • Creates a onenote sheet with informations of the email and i want to integrate the specific constructed Name of the first branch in here too

My problematic right now is, that i dont know which command to use to use the first branch output as input on the second branch. For better understanding i linked a screenshot on imgur

Anyone can help me out?

Flow Screenshot )

If it is not possible, i'm okay with using two flows. But on this topic i am even more helpless.

Sidenote: I have both flows up and running perfectly. But i want to combine them.

Thanks in advance

    A small addon for clarification:
I want the complete row in the left branch (marked in the picture) in the html code on the right side 🙂

So that the reference name in the onenote sheet is exactly the same as the file's name, which is stored on onedrive.

    Hi Franz.

It sounds to me that you need to use "Initialize variable" or "Set Variable" to suit.

You will want to set "complete row in the left branch" to a named variable and then access that named variable in your other branch.

    Worth a go?

Hi Alan, that worked perfectly. Thanks a lot.

I initated a string variable in the top level and set the variable in the left branch to the desired value. In the right branch i then tried to simply include it in the html code. But that doesnt seem to work. It basically just leaves the variable out.

I tried to search for a html code to simply visualize the string variable's value but couldnt find anything useful.

Do you maybe have another hint for me? 🙂

    Hi @Anonymous, no problem.

As you found my hint helpful, please mark thumbs up.

In terms of "In the right branch i then tried to simply include it in the html code. But that doesnt seem to work. It basically just leaves the variable out"

Can you please post a picture of the code used in the right branch and paste how you have called the variabe?

something like variable('varName') maybe and I will try and offer a hint and/or a solution

    Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan, i tried to thumbs up, but that simply doesnt do anything. Will try later again.
I figured out the problem. Because the two branches started simultaneously, the right branch variable was set before the correct value was set in the left branch. So it was basically blank and thats why it didnt show in the onenote page.

I now simplified the whole Flow into one single branch.

First the Left branch, followed by the right branch.

And was able to just put the string variable in the html code.

    Works fine!

Thank you for your support Alan!
