Form says not connected but still show data somewhat

I created a form, then a card, and then a label as shown in the screenshot. The label is showing the correct value from the Manager datasource, but it does not show it when I run the app (either shows "No item to display", or "Getting your data..." depending on where it is run).

Also, the form shows "This form isn't connected to any data yet", but if that is the case why can I see the manager name in the sceenshot? I have searched the forums but they just said to set the set the data source in the dropdown, and I did that as shown.

Thanks for any tips or pointers.

Hi @ConnGator ,
There are two properties on a form that are relevant - DataSource and Item - can you please send both of these.
On the label - is it in a card on the form or simply on the screen? Also what is its Text property?

DataSource is set to Manager (from Office365) and Item is empty.

The label is in a card in the form, and the Text property is this:

First(Manager).GivenName & " " & First(Manager).Surname

So that is why it says Fanny Chavance on the screen (but not when I "play", or in the deployed app.)

Hi @ConnGator ,
You will get exactly the result you are seeing with the Item empty. PowerApps needs to know which record to display on the form.
If this record is selected from a gallery, then the Item should be
YourGalleryName.Selected
(actual gallery name).
Once you have done this, the Manager probably should be (although I cannot see your data)
ThisItem.Manager.GivenName & " " & ThisItem.Manager.Surname

I actually was not using a gallery, just Form -> Card -> Label.

I decided to skip the form and card and go directly with the label. Thanks for your help.
