The valid property of cards seems to be defaulting to true on app launch and only changes to false if the field is filled then emptied again. This issue only happens on the published version of the app. When using the play button the app functions perfectly.

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?
The Valid property is to check whether a Card or Edit form control contains valid entries, ready to be submitted to the data source. Applies to Card and Edit form controls.
I have a test and the situation is confirmed on my side.
If you do not put any validation into any data card or form, the Valid will always return true. Whatever in the published app or edit mode.
Please check your scenario again.
