PowerApps studio not loading

Hello,

I have an app that has a SharePoint list as one of its data sources. When building the app I had some dummy data in that list to help me test things. However, since I filled the list with live data (its about 430 rows), the studio doesn't want to load.

- The first thing I did was remove every line of OnStart of app and OnVisible of the first screen, didn't change

- I disabled Explicit Column Selection

- The App runs fine when its being played

- I can get into editor mode if I limit the amount of rows of said SharePoint list to ~20

- I can get into editor mode with the short list, fill the list with the live data, and run every function I wrote that uses the list perfectly fine

- Memory usage of Edge goes through the roof when I start the app in editor mode

- Same problem in Chrome or Firefox

There appears to be something in PowerApps editor that is related to the size of my SharePoint list that requires a massive amount of computing in Edge, causing it to blank out. However, its not something that I wrote in PowerApps that uses the list OnStart of the app or OnVisible of the screen.

Please help?

    Hi @KvB1 ,

So the issue looks related to the list, could you please share more details about the list? How many columns are there in the list? What column types of all those columns?

In addition, which controls you have put on the first screen? Is there any of them connects to the list?

    Best regards,

    Hi, thanks for the reply!

There are 8 columns, all of them are text.

There are controls on the first screen, mainly text input, buttons, 1 datepicker, 1 gallery, 1 attachment control. None of the controls are directly connected to the list.

On the OnStart of the app, the list gets collected in the app as a collection (with a few filters dependig on who is using the app), so every control is connected to that collection in the app, not to the list.

However, the problem as decribed persists when I replace the OnStart of the app with a button.

PowerApps appears to be doing something when it starts that I didn't tell it to do thats related to the list, and I've been trying to figure out exactly what that is so I can work around it, but so far no luck.

    Thanks again!

    Hi @KvB1 ,

Could you please share the formula of the collection creation? As you mentioned, there are a few filters, which makes me suspect that they are causing the issue.

Maybe you could try and reduce the filters one by one to have a check.

    Hi @v-jefferni

It's a complex filter with a few nested if functions. I know this is prone to causing issues. Thats why I decided to filter my data source into a local collection as the app starts.

However, even if I remove this function from OnStart and migrate it to a button, the App still fails to load in studio mode. Do you know if PowerApps checks all your formula's while starting?

The filter works fine if I just bind it to a button, it takes no more than a second or two. But if the presence of this filter causes PowerApps to not load the app in studio mode (even though it loads fine when playing it), I'll have to find a way to break it down into smaller pieces.
