I have 2 drop downs: "A" and "B", here B is dependent on A.
I am able to set A default as " " (i.e. don't show anything unless selected). But on selecting A -> B immediately populates values as per 'Items' property. How to retain B's ideal state as " " (i.e. don't show anything unless selected) ?

Set the AllowEmptySelection property of the drop-down to true

below are dependent drop downs, on selecting A -> B and C shows relevant information. For B and C there is a formula in 'Items', and there is no purpose of a drop down for B and C. Is there a way to replace the 'drop down box' with a 'text box' and still show relevant data?
It depends what you want to display - if it is a Table (you are using Filter), then you need a drop-down, but if a single value (using LookUp), you just need to set that as the Default of the Text box.
