Lookup/Filter on SQL Server

This should be so easy yet I cannot make it work.

I have connected my app to Azure SQL and have a DataTable named MyTable (dbo.tableofdata), I can see/scroll the data

I have Text Input Called SearchStr

I have set the OnChange Action of the SearchStr Text Input to  :
Filter('[dbo].tableofdata', col1 = "mydata")

I would eventually like the datatable to filter on the Text Input but I can't even get the most basic of things to work.

you just need to think of this the other way around.

Instead of putting this on the onchange on your textbox

on the Items property of your gallery add

    Filter('[dbo].tableofdata', col1 = SearchStr.Text)
