Sharing with External Users - Is this really the correct way?

I'm trying to share a app with an external user. I'm having no problem sharing the app and the user receives the app invite without any problems. However he cannot see the app on his phone or in dynamics home. The only way he can gain access is by typing the URL for the app into a browser.

Is this really correct, that you can only share an app with a URL and not directly into an external users Powerapps "app"?

Does the Guest user take a try to sign out his PowerApps Mobile App, and sign in again?

Does this shared app show up within the PowerApps Portal (https://make.powerapps.com) of the Guest user?

Any user that has accessed an canvas app, on their mobile device, that’s published in an Azure AD tenant that isn’t their home tenant must sign-out of PowerApps and sign back in to PowerApps Mobile.

If the issue still exists, I afraid this feature has not been supported within PowerApps. Please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

Note: If the shared app is shown up within the PowerApps Portal (https://make.powerapps.com) of the Guest user, it would also shown up within the guest user's PowerApps Mobile App

The problem we are experiencing is that when the external user log into the powerapps portal he can't see the app we shared with him. On mobile he can't see it either, no matter if he logs out and in again. However if he opens the invite link he can see the app, but all his own apps then disappears. If he then logs out and in again, then he can see his own apps, but not the external app.

So the external user has access, but it is just a weird way to go to the app for him. Or do he need to go to some special "guest app" section within powerapps to see the app? (it is not appearing in shared with me or all apps sections)

Hi @Kryger ,

I think it is the current limit on sharing app with guest users in PowerApps. I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

In addition, there is no special "guest app" section within powerapps to see the app currently. If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

Hi There,
This is for those who have shared apps externally with users and want those apps to show up on the users mobile device.
Here is a semi somewhat work around that you can try.

Tested on an android device

1.) Share the app as per normal process for a external user and make sure when you share it, that it will also send them a email notification.
2.) Make sure powerapps is installed on their mobile device.
3.) Advise the external user to open the email from the mobile device and select "open app". It should prompted them to either open via the browser or powerapp, Choose "Powerapps" of course.
4.) Sign in as per normal and there you go, it'll open in the powerapps mobile app.
5.) Swipe to the right to close, refresh your app list and you'll see the guest app in the list but all the other apps will disappear if there were other apps. Dont worry that's the "Odd" bit. Lets continue..
6.) On the gust app select the 3 dots or ellipses (not sure what its called) and pin the app to the home screen.

To get back all the other apps that there might of been, close the powerapps mobile app and reopen it (not using the guest app icon on the home screen).

Play around from there.
