Default Date in form edit mode

I have an app that is to be used by two groups. The first group would enter a question to be asked and submit the form, saving it to a SharePoint list, sending an automatic email to the second group of people. The second group would access the entry, enter the edit mode and provide their response.

I am wanting the default date for the response (second group) to automatically default to the date they enter edit mode to respond, but I want that date to stay the same even if the user needs to edit the response a day (or more) later. Example: I edit the form with my response today (4/26/2023), but if I need to add additional notes to the entry tomorrow, I still want the original default date of 4/26/2023 to remain the same.

Obviously, the typical default formula of If(EditForm1.Mode=FormMode.Edit,Today(),Parent.Default) doesn't work as each time one enters the edit mode, the default date would update.

Is there a different formula to use to accomplish this?

Thanks!

    Hi @smitht46 ,
    Try using updated formula -
    If(IsBlank(Parent.Default), If(EditForm1.Mode=FormMode.Edit, Today(), Parent.Default))
    The above formula will only change the date to today's date if the form is in edit mode and default date is blank. If you would like the form to have date as today's date in new mode, use below formula -
    If(IsBlank(Parent.Default), If(EditForm1.Mode=FormMode.Edit || EditForm1.Mode=FormMode.New, Today(), Parent.Default))

    Thanks for the quick reply @NandiniBhagya20 ! That worked for me up to the point of attempting to re-edit the entry. When I tried to go back into the entry and change something else, that date field was blank. Anything else I can do to overcome this?

    I think I got it figured out. I just added an additional If(!IsBlank(Parent.Default) to the above formula.

    If(IsBlank(Parent.Default), If(EditForm1.Mode=FormMode.Edit, Today()), If(!IsBlank(Parent.Default),Parent.Default))
