Working with a copy of an app

Posted on 13 Dec 2024 11:04:34 by 470
Hi everyone,

I used "save as" an app in my DEV environment, and it created "My App - copy".
I am making a couple of changes here.
When they will be finished, what I have to do to become this copy as the official app in DEV?
I mean, should I have to delete the original "My App" in DEV and rename the new one "My App - copy" as "My App" and that it?
I have the app running on PROD environment, so the new zip file from "My App - copy" will work?

I am working with PowerApps for Teams with dataverse.

Thanks for any help!

Working with a copy of an app
If you select the DEV app then Export package from the top menu (and then enter a name), it will download a zip file to your local Downloads folder. Then go to your PROD environment and (from top menu) Import App > From package (.zip) and choose the downloaded file. Follow the prompts and replace the old file with this one. The advantage of this is that it imports as a new version and the old one is still available to restore if needed. It also keeps the same URL, so any shortcuts to it will not be affected.
There is also a method using a Solution, but I am trying to keep this simple for you.
