Hi,
I have a custom form on SharePoint where one of the fields is a lookup columns (Utility Type: Region) . When I try to edit one of the other columns such as Choice 1, 2 or 3, it is coming up with the below error. When the column Utility Type: Region has data in it, the error does not appear but when it is left blank it will not let me save any changes made to other columns on the form. Does anyone know how I can get round this issue? Any help would be really appreciated.

did u check if at least Contribute permissions are set for the user?

Yes I have the correct permissions.
can it be the case, that the column is a requiered column?
it could also be useful to set a default value (if the business process allows it)

Thank you for your reply. As it is a lookup column it does not have the option to set a default value. I have also checked and it is not a required column

lookup column can be pain when it comes to powerapps. is this needed to exist in sharepoint or could you also move it to powerapps?
No unfortunately I need to have it in the sharepoint list. I have seen that it may be possible to save the form when these read only fields are blank without causing an error by using the patch function and excluding the read only fields. Do you know the formula that would need to be used to update an existing item in the sharepoint list using patch?
I once had the Problem patchint a blank person or group field. Do you have blank ones when patching?
Yes there might be a blank field when patching but if the read only ones are blank I can exclude them from the patch function by using the isblank function
Do you maybe try to patch columns that are created by sharepoint? Such as created or created by or modified by etc? If thats the case you can not do this in any way because they will be modified by sharepoint itself
