Flow flagged e-mail to Task is triggered again after e-mail is edited

Hi everyone,

I have created a flow where a Task is created in Planner when an e-mail is flagged. That works perfectly!

We are using this in a shared mailbox. After the task is created, we (manually) categorize the e-mail in Outlook, for example the category 'added to tasks'.

However if I assign a category in Outlook to an already flagged e-mail, a new task is created again. This means all tasks are created twice. Is there anyway to prevent this?

    Hi
It looks like even though Microsoft GRaph API  reports the assigned categories in the v1.0 and in the beta version this attribute is not mapped yet to Power Automate Outlook connector
message resource type - Microsoft Graph v1.0 | Microsoft Docs
message resource type - Microsoft Graph beta | Microsoft Docs

I can't think on a proper solution, just workarounds... for example, store the Message Id at the end of your Task Title, and add the following extra steps in your flow before adding a new task:
-read all tasks (hopefully less than 400, that's the max nr you can get back),
-filter tasks to check if any of their Titles contains the MEssage ID, if not, then create the new task.

Please let us know your progress

Thanks for your reply @efialttes !

I think the issue is not with the e-mail being assigned to categories, but the issue is that when you assign a category to an already flagged e-mail, the power automate sees it as a 'new' e-mail again, and starts up the flow.

Yep, I know you will get triggered twice, that's why I was suggesting workarounds.
Honestly, I do not know any way to avoid the flow to be triggered when you add a category.
LEt's hope somebody else can point us to a more elegant solution than the workaround I suggested
    ¡Animo!

Ok, just wanted to be sure, my English is a bit limited sometimes 🙂

Thanks again @efialttes. I'm quite new to Power Automate, so I hope I can make your work around..work!

Not your English, it was my fault, I did not explained myself properly

The best work around I've found so far is to flag the e-mail, and once it's synced to Planner, remove the flag.

If anyone knows another solution, I'd be grateful 🙂
