Update multiple records in large share-point lists

Hi,

I created a sharepoint list which is about 9.000 records, and want to change all records by pressing a button. I want to change column "Vendor" to a new value (e.g. VW) if the column "Brand" is for example Beetle. This is the case for many records. I tried as follows, however this just works for the first matches. I guess after the max. of 2.000 records, which is the maximum entry I could set as data row limit, the share-point list stops up-dating.

UpdateIf('MySharepointList',Brand="Beetle", {Vendor:"VW"})

Could you help how to up-date the full list?

    Hi @LeafGreenFrog,

You are correct that UpdateIf output is limited to your Delegation limit. You also have another issue with throttling limits that I am surprised did not kick in with 2,000 records being updated. You can try a Flow "apply to each", but then may run into issues using up all your Flow cycles. The only way I have ever bulk-updated Sharepoint is a manual copy and paste in a Data Sheet view doing about 100 records at a time. To answer your question, there is no easy way of doing this with the record number you have involved.

How would I paste 100 entries at a time? This would at least be a helpful workaround.

    Hi @LeafGreenFrog ,

Set up a Data Sheet view in SharePoint with the field you want to update and also any other fields you may want to see which records are being updated. I would put the target field first (far left). Select Edit in grid view at the top, change the first one, then copy that and paste down for the 100. They will take a while to update and having a spinner icon beside them while doing this, but will return to a green bar when finished. It would also be a good idea to turn off any Flows that you may have triggered by changes to a record.
