SP List Datasource changes

I added 4 new fields to my datasource (sharepoint list).   Now, in my gallery, in my Gallery, if I go Properties, Datasource, Edit, Fields, and go to change the Title or Subtitle, all my original fields are field_1, field_2, field_3, field_4 etc. (list names are still their actual names).    however, the 4 new fields in the gallery drop down are the actual names of the field i called them in the list settings.

I did 'refresh' my sp list datasource in power apps.    what is the trick to get the actual list field names back in the gallery datasource?

Is there some specific steps that must be taken to edit or add to the list, while not causing breakage in power apps?

    Hi @DB300 ,

    You have created your SP list by importing from Excel, so those will always be the "original" or actual field names. The only way to avoid this is to create a new list with the field names you need and then paste in (or import using a Flow) the data.

    you are right, i did indeed import from Excel, that stinks.  I thought I was so slick because i had 70 fields and it was so much easier to type in excel and import 🙄

    I actually have no data in the list yet other than test records.   In theory, if i created a new "ListName3" with the fields names as I want them, that are in ThisItem.FieldName in power apps... would I be able to rename the original ListName1 (imported from Excel), rename that to ListName2, then rename ListName3 to ListName1.     then refresh datasource.   will all my fields match up?  or will everything break?  Is the only place to map a field in the Data Card "DataField"?

    Hi @DB300 ,

    No unfortunately - the actual link is not the name, but a hidden ID, You will need to re-link the new lists and then if necessary re-maps the fields with the names you want.

    Is that "original" name available to see somewhere as a list of fields?   It seems you cant rename columns in the list?   I had a column named "MgrName" that i originally did not create as a "Person".   So I added a column named "MgrName2" as a person field, then deleted "MgrName", then renamed "MgrName2" to "MgrName".    That field is still called MgrName2 in power apps?

    It would help to see a list of my "original" names and not my "actual" names.

    @DB300 ,

    The current names in List Settings will be the ones you renamed the field_xx to, so I assume you want to use those, however if you have renamed any field, you can see the original name by selecting the field in List Settings and then the name will be at the end of the URL at the top (field=xxxxxx)
