Email the owner of a SharePoint List item when the item completion date is 7 days from today

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a flow that will trigger an email through Outlook to the Owner of an item based on the following criteria:

1. Status DOES NOT EQUAL Completed

2. Completion Date EQUALS Today+7 days

Screenshot of the flow is shown below.

Below are the relevant columns from the SharePoint list I'm trying to use. I want to email the "Owner", based on the Completion Date and the Status:

When I test the flow, I cannot get beyond "Foreach". Any suggestions for why this isn't working and how I can fix the flow?

Thanks,

Matt

    Hi Matt,

    Could you pls share the screenshot of the condition action? You could directly use filter query in Get items to filter the required data.

    Thanks

    I could not figure out the expressions, but you could double check.

    For first part of the condition, pls check if both operands are compatible & are compared with same format for e.g. yyyy-MM-dd:

    Left operand:

    formatDateTime(items('Foreach')?['fieldName'],'yyyy-MM-dd')

    Pls replace fieldname with actual column name in SharePoint list.

    Right operand:

    addDays(utcNow(),7,'yyyy-MM-dd')

    If this helps & solves your problem, please remember to give a 👍 and accept my solution as it will help others in the future.

    Thanks

    Hi Manish,

    No luck on this front still, I've done as you requested and changed the conditions as follows:

    Left -

    formatDateTime(items('Foreach')?['CompletionDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy')

    Right -
    addDays(utcNow(),7,'dd-MM-yyyy')

    This matches the format in the SharePoint list I'm trying to use.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    I would use the following expression directly in the Filter Query in your Get Items action. That way you don't need the Condition within the Apply to each as it will only return the items you want to send an email for. You can just copy/paste the below expression directly into the Filter Query.

    Status ne 'Completed' and CompletionDate ge '@{addDays(utcNow(), 7, 'yyyy-MM-dd')}' and CompletionDate lt '@{addDays(utcNow(), 8, 'yyyy-MM-dd')}'

    Thanks for this Grant. Wat is the value in the Apply to each action? I can't replicate Value as it appears in your screenshot?
