How to View Folder Contents

Hi,

Using PAD, i know i can get a list of Contents (files) in a folder. But i want to use PAD with a slight tweak.

Instead of listing the contents, i would like PAD to open the folder for me and then i will manually look at the contents of the folder.

Is it possible?

Plus if you tell me a very good resource to learn PAD, that would be really helpful.

Regards,

You could try the UI automation / recorder. Though I believe using the run command and just putting in the folder path would work also.

Option #1: this will open like a Browse file dialog box.

There is also another one to Select Folder instead of a File.

Option #2: this will directly open a Window Explorer window with the desired folder that you pass

Recorder is great, in the sense that it captures all the steps. However, the moment i run the PAD flow, on the 2nd step, i received an exception error. Couldn't comprehend the error? So not feasible.

    Hi, VJR.

    Option No.2 worked for me.

However, could you please tell me:-

    1. What are the other options available in "Application Path" other than explorer.

    2. How can i close the folder (as my work is over and would like to have this step to perform automatically). Should i use "Close Window" from PAD Drag and Drop.

    3. Actually, i am surprised that PAD doesn't provide any option to open/close files and folders from the Drag and Drop option. For Excel files, the options are provided. If you are in touch with PAD Developers, please let them know.

    1. You can use any executable in the application path

Eg; If you use calc.exe it will open up the Calculator.

Or you can give your own full path.

    2. To close a process you can use "Terminate Process". Eg; If you pass "Calculator" it will close calculator. Find this name from the Task Manager.

If you use "explorer" it will close all explorer.exe processes that are opened on your machine.

    3. This is the link to submit any ideas
