Issue using Business Rule component with Show Message in Scope - Entity

Problem: Trying to avoid duplicate entry, so when the user enters the data in the Portal Form, I need to validate the email id to ensure uniqueness

Solution: Set up a business rule with a condition + show message

IF

Email = [Email]

THEN

Show the error message "Email is already present" against field Email

Was expecting an icon next to the Email field, while the business rule stops the data in the entity, the Form shows system error message "An unknown failure has occurred. Error ID # [ dc3e...]

Looking forward to some help !!!

Thanks

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    If you only want to avoid duplicate entry, defining a key should be more appropriate, it allows you to make sure your field is unique, and CDS won't allow duplicates of data to be entered within it.

    Hope this helps.

    Sik,

    Thanks  !!!

    I am trying to display the error back to User in the Portal, and unable to do it with this approach, how to propagate the error you have shown, back to the user Apps Portal? Currently, when the user keys in the duplicate it is just accepting with success.

    I also want to extend the server-side validation to other business validation.

    Unfortunately Power Apps Portals does not support Business Rules.  You'll need to implement this type of validation using Portal-specific client-side JavaScript.
