Power Apps Studio Question

I have a question regarding Power Apps Studio.

Prior you could select multiple controls in the left hand nav pane and select a property such as "height" which would set that property as default so when you selected the controls one by one it would now be that property as it's default selection.

I'm not sure if it's just on my end or not but now when I do that it does set the property selection for all selected but when I now attempt to select those controls one by one it defaults to "ContentLanguage" for containers or "Text" for Labels or "On Select" for buttons which I have no idea why it's doing that.  It's almost like every control now has a default selected property that it resets to on selection.

Is this a bug or is this now how the Studio reacts and if so....WHY?  This is a horrible change!  Prior you could select 20 controls and set the property to Height as an example and then just click through and change quickly as that default selected property was there and no need to select it every single time.

Is there a new option to turn this off?  Is it a bug? Or are we just now stuck with this "new" behavior.

Any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated because it's made editing large amounts of controls a nightmare....

    Hi @PwrProfessional ,

I am not sure what facility you had before, but I have never been able to do that without the "hack" of: -

    • Selecting the Form.
    • Changing the Layout (right panel from Vertical to Horizontal) or reverse if you have it that way.
    • Selecting the Undo icon at top left and all controls will be highlighted.
    • Hold down the Ctrl button and de-select the controls you do not want to change
    • Select the property you want to change on all new selected controls and change it.

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

It depends on the type of control and whether they are in the same Group or Container or not.  But if they are in the same container you can Select multiple controls using Ctrl key and your mouse.  Then you can select from the properties dropdown which property you want to change and set the value to whatever you want.  For example, I can select all the TextInput boxes on a screen, except the first one, and set their height, width, x, y, or text to use the same property on the first control. I just tried it and it works for me.

Sorry guys maybe I need to be a bit more clear.  What I'm talking about is not changing multiple controls at the same time.

I know how to do that and using the Ctrl key.

What I'm talking about is in Studio on the left hand pane, you can select a control.  Before it would remember the property you were editing...now it resets every time you select the control.

I was able to select say 20 controls switch the property to "height" and it would "Remember" what property was selected for that control and you could just click through and change "height" as an example very quickly.

Maybe I need to do a video to explain better.

I've got to say that has never been my experience in the studio.  Sometimes it would go back to the same property, but often it would not.  It depended on whether the last control I worked with was the same type of control and whether I had accessed the same property. But if I had accessed a different control or a different property on the same type of control it never reverted back to the same property when I went back to another control.  If it worked that way it would suggest that each control kept track of which property was accessed last. I don't believe that is true. Rather I think its dependent on what property you are coming from and whether this control has the same property or not.

    @Pstork1

I was always able to select say 10 controls > select height > and then when selecting any of those 10 controls individually the default property for the control when selected was always what I had set.  In this instance select those 10 controls, selecting the height property for all, then individually selecting any of those 10 controls would have height selected as the property to edit.  I typically use Firefox and maybe the bug was what I experienced instead of what I expected.

It was a wonderful bug if that was the case because it made editing the same property type of controls very quick and easy.  However over the past 2 months I've noticed the default property type is selected no matter what, when you select a control.

I guess it is what it is now but a much worse experience IMHO as now I have to re-select the property I want to edit every time and it's a small point but as it was behaving before saved a bit of time when editing multiples of controls etc...

    Thanks for the feedback though.
