My ID is showing that it equals 8 (bottom of the pic).
When highlighting varID in the next line, it claims it's blank.
What's going on? This is on the screen OnVisible.

The reason why your seeing Blank is because you need to trigger the OnVisible property of the screen.
The first way I do it is adding a new screen and add a button on the new screen. In the OnSelect of the button in the new screen Navigate to the main screen to trigger the OnVisible.
The other way you can also do it is in App.StartScreen add you screen and then via App select Navigate to StartScreen.
