Unable to open or edit an app that was saved

After a few hours of work, the app started to misbehave.  I saved the work, closed the PowerApps studio, re-opened it, and it starts opening my app and then closes it with an error message giving me a session Id for support.  How do I provide that to support, I would like to recover the work I put in there.  I tried to open it with the web editor, that didn't work as well, so as far as this app is concerned, I am stuck.

Thank you,

Olivier

This happened to me a few build ago and hasn't happened since. But here are some things that caused the bugs for me in the past that might be the same for you:

    • Circular logic: I had to redo an app from an old version that included a Form whose Items included a circular logic that could not be undone.
    • WrapCount in nested galleries. If you have one Gallery inside another Gallery and you give it a WrapCount greater than 1, it could cause it not to open in an older version of PA. This seems to have been fixed. I originally fixed it on my own by editing the JSON file, but PA team told me they highly discourage that.
    • Flow: including a flow in early versions of PA made it incapable of being opened in an early version of PA. This has not happened to me since then.

One possible fix is to uninstall PowerApps and reinstall it. That has worked for me in the past when new versions of PA were rolled out.

Aside from that, the best policy that has helped me in these situations is to change my workflow to save often into different files so that I have many versions to roll back to.

Thanks for the tips Mr. Dang, in my case, there was no nested Galleries, only one. The app was pretty complex though so it is possible that a conflict existed.  The Studio editor however should be able to recuperate from there.

I am rewriting it, and your suggestion for multiple file saves is a good one.

    Thanks,

    Olivier

Please provide the sessionId contained in the error message, we can then investigate the issue further.

Hi Andy, unfortunately I didn't keep the session Id. On the other hand, i didn't know that I could revert to a previous version of my work, so that is already a big help as I save often.
