User check-in application

Hello everyone! I need assistance with creating a user check-in page.

I have two Dataverse tables: Clients and Visits.

The Clients table contains all the information about a client, such as their name, email, and address.

I am looking to create a kiosk-style check-in system on a new page for when these clients enter the building.

Currently, I have added an edit form (from the Visits table) on the check-in page. The form includes fields for the client's surname and ID. When the form is submitted, it adds an entry to the Visits table with the current date and time.

Now, I need to ensure that when a surname or client ID is entered, the system checks if this information is present in the Clients table before submitting it to the Visits table.

Is it possible to implement this functionality?

Thank you 😀

    Hi @wlt_2022,

    You could use an If() statement to check whether the filled in ID or surname is present:

    If(
     //Should IDColumn be a number column, use IDColumn = Value(DataCardValueID)
     !IsBlank(
     LookUp(Clients, SurNameColumn = DataCardValueSurName.Text || IDColumn = DataCardValueID)
     ),
     SubmitForm(FormName),
     //Do something else
    )

    Rename the form and datacardvalue controls to the correct names.

    If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution & give it a thumbs up.

    Thanks!

    @LaurensM

    Thats perfect and looks to be working, I replaced || with && to search both and is only adding records that exist in the clients database. Thank you so much.

    How would I add code to return an error if record is not found and the form doesn't submit? i.e., "To register, please see reception' etc

    I also would like it add a navigate to page, if a form submits to a success page.

    Would greatly appricate your help. Thanks again

    Hi @wlt_2022,

    Thanks for the extra info! The following adjustments should do the trick. 😊

    If(
     //Should IDColumn be a number column, use IDColumn = Value(DataCardValueID)
     !IsBlank(
     LookUp(Clients, SurNameColumn = DataCardValueSurName.Text && IDColumn = DataCardValueID)
     ),
     SubmitForm(FormName),
     Notify("To register, please see reception.", NotificationType.Error, 5000)
    )

    The Navigate can be added to the Form's OnSuccess property which will only run after a successful submission:

    //OnSuccess
    Navigate(ScreenName)

    If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution & give it a thumbs up.

    Thanks!
