Power Automate always return blank result to PowerApps

Here is my simple flow:

The test flow aims at sending a random number to PowerApps. However, when accessing the return value in PowerApps, it always show a blank value. 

Set(randomnum, 'PowerAppsend-to-end'.Run())

randomnum.number = Blank

Why is the value blank? Any advice is much appreciated.

    There is a longstanding bug in the return to Power Apps action.  Returning numbers doesn't work.  If you look at the return in the Monitor you will see that Power Apps is expecting a number, but the JSON is actually a string value.  So it comes in as a blank.  In the flow format the number as a string and return it that way, then cast it back to a number in Power Apps.
