Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a project in PowerApps and encountering an intermittent issue that is proving quite frustrating. I have built a form that generally works well and allows submissions without any problem. However, after making minor updates (like entering help text), the submit functionality sometimes stops working entirely. After this issue started occuring a new issue has arisen where powerapps states no item to display in preview even though there is a container with items.

Furthermore, a new issue has arisen where PowerApps states "No item to display" in the preview, despite there being a container with items in it.

For reference see attached image "input before dropdown selected" changes to "no item to display"). Once a dropdown is selected the full form is populated as shown in image titled "full form".

Here is a breakdown of the issue:

Sharepoint linked to Powerapps: I am working in PowerApps Studio and the issue occurs when I review the app and also in the published version.
Updates Leading to the Issue: Minor updates such as adding help text or no updates at all.
Existing Setup:
- Form Fields: They are visible based on the selection made in a dropdown box (item type).
- Required Fields: Depending on the dropdown selection, some fields become mandatory (Required is set to true).

Steps Taken to Resolve the Issue:

Data Cards: I have removed and replaced all the data cards, but the problem persists.
Error Messages: Interestingly, there are no formula errors popping up in PowerApps Studio.
Reverting to an Earlier Version: Even when I revert to a previous version where the submit functionality was working fine is now broken.
Removed all records from Sharepoint and somehow this has allowed me to submit the form.

I am reaching out to this community for help in understanding and resolving this baffling issue. I suspect the problem might be related to the conditional visibility and mandatory settings of the form fields, but I am unable to pinpoint the exact cause.

I appreciate any help or guidance you can provide, as this issue is currently a significant blocker in my project.

Are you still having issues?

Start by checking your "EditForm".

Take a look at what the DataSource property is set to. For that SharePoint List in your App, do a Refresh to pickup and changes to your list that may have occurred.

Take a look at the "Item" Property for the EditForm. If your a refencing something like BrowseGallery1.Selected, then if something is not selected from BrowseGallery1 you will see an empty form.

If you have items in your SharePoint list (as a test), you could change the Item property in the EditForm to:

First('Your List Here')

That would pick up the first item in your SharePoint list. If your form comes up fine with that, then whenever your Item Property is coming form might be the issue.
