How to store history of items in sharepoint list

hey,

we have a powerapp to scan items in boxes with barcode. Each box has a special barcode, like 1101-1, 1101-2, 1101-3. The last number is the box number. Scanning a box updates the item in a sharepoint list. This works fine.

My question now is how to store the history when we have scanned a box. I would like to know when items are scanned. Do I need a second sharepoint list linked to the first one?

Maybe someone can give me an advice

    Hi @Phil_NPO ,

    Yes, an "Audit List" is quite common. Simply Patch a new record to the list after each scan with the fields you need to record.

    @Phil_NPO

    You are describing an audit trail. Such lists can become huge in a short time and should be kept separate from your main list to prevent bogging down the rest of your app. SharePoint can handle the size into millions of records.
