I am trying to print the end of day reports from my business software that is a sql database, to a file as a PDF. The automation needs to name the files in a sequence preferably including the date.

    For the date:

    get current date and time

convert datetime to text custom format “MMddyyyy”. Capital Ms are important. Small ms are minutes.  Save this variable as %TODA_mmddyyyy%

As for sequentially ordering your save as files, you can simply have an index or any identifier you want.

So it might look like this:
    Set variable %ReportIndex% = 1

    Save as PDF as Report_%ReportIndex%_%TODA_mmddyyyy%
    Set variable %ReportIndex% as %ReportIndex + 1%

    Save as PDF as Report_%ReportIndex%_%TODA_mmddyyyy%
