Visibility of sub-flow inside a solution

When I tried to call a child flow from the parent, I expect that I can see all the child flow inside the same solution. But to my surprise, I saw lots of sub-flows which do not belong to the same solution my parent flow is in. Just wondering is this by design or it is a defect, or it is a problem of access control inside Power Automate?

Thanks,

Ada Yuan

    Hi @AdaYuan ,

The user's security role determines which flows the user can see.

So If you are the system administrator, you can see all the flows in the dropdown which can run.

Thanks Wearsky. You are right, it is what happened. Just found out that I was setup as a system admin.

But still wondering why inside 'instant cloud' flow, I see the flows shared out by other people? Does the access control works differently between 'desktop' and 'instant cloud' flow?

    Thanks

    Hi @AdaYuan ,

    Sorry , I'm a little confused.

    Could you clarify your question?

But still wondering why inside 'instant cloud' flow, I see the flows shared out by other people?

    Hi Wearsky,

I was setup as a system admin.

I can see all the Desktop flows which are in the environments. (This is right since I'm a system admin, have all the power to see all of them)

But I can only see the Cloud flows which are in the environment, and shared with me. (Just wondering why I cannot see other cloud flows if I have all the power on Desktop flows, why not on cloud flows).

    Thanks

Re: Visibility of sub-flow inside a solution

    Hi @AdaYuan ,

At my knowledge, desktop flow is created in the solution by default. It is a member of the solution components.

So I think you can find all desktop flows in a solution named 'Default Solution'.

Security roles control who can access the database(dataverse), solution... So if you are the system admin with the highest permissions, you can see all desktop flows.

The flow is not a member of solution if the user create it outside the solution. So the security role will not work.

You will see it if the user shares the flow with you as a Co-owner.

Besides, If the user put the flow into the solution ,you will also find it in 'Default Solution' without sharing because you have a SA security role.

Finally, we can find all canvas, flows.... in PP admin center if you have enough permission to access it whether it's in the solution or not.
