Cascading Dropdowns - SharePoint List fields

I know there are multiple posts and videos on cascading dropdowns, but my question is, do I need to have the two fields that I want to be cascading in a separate list?  Currently it have them in my main SP List, is there a way to put in a formula if FieldOneDD = X1, then FieldTwoDD = XX1.

    hi there

if you have all the data in that sheet you could just go dropdown1, Sort(distinct(source, column),result) and

    combox2 distinct(filter(source, column = dropdown1.selected.value),yourColumn)

i hope there is no typos, 🙂

Is this possible if the 2 DD are not related to each other because they are in the same list.  For instance if DD1 = Dog, then DD2 = Poodle, is this possible to do within the items formula?

    yes it is

i am assume your data looks something like this

    family  | member

    dog     | poodle

    dog     | spaniel

No, only because I currently don't have them in a separate fields within my list.  So, I'm thinking I should create a separate list to accomplish this.

    currently my list fields are:

    Family | Member

Dog       | Poodle, Dashhound (dd values)

Cat         | Siemese, Tabby (dd values)

I did a cascading dropdown in another PowerApp, but the dropdown values came from a separate list, so I'm thinking this is what I need to do.

Ok let try this with your data structure

Combobox 1 = YourDataSource with value Family

    Conbobox2 = Split(LookUp(YourDataSource, Family = Dropdown2.SelectedText.Value, Member),",")
