Extra characters in terminal session get text response

I'm using Get Text from a Terminal Session. In some cases the value returned has extra characters at the end of the text string. This behavior does not occur all the time. In my last test run of 88 records only 3 returned the extra characters. The rest returned as expected. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Expected Result: First 4 characters not valid

There was no extra text at the end. I was able to generate another similar outcome so you can see the terminal window vs. the returned text. This one again has a couple extra characters in the returned variable.

Hi @sschoenherr

You can remove those by replacing all with '' using regex pattern like below:

Where %TerminalText% is the variable which is extracted from mainframe screen

Thank you, that seems to work for most cases. Sometimes, however, regular characters appear in the extra characters at the end of the original extracted string. After the RegEx replacement test today I was getting "...OF CODE TABLE filep" with an extra "p" after the word file. Is there a way around this? I'm thinking it might not always be one character left at the end since what is picked up as extra characters seems to vary.

Ok let's give a try in another way, just tell what are the corrdinates when the cursor is at "e" character of file which is at the end :)?

The coordinates for "e" are 24/077.

The "D" coordinate is 24/002. I ran a few more records and got a couple different messages in AS400. They always start at 24/002, but the ending coordinate varies depending on the message.

If you can take maximum column in mainframe screen , take the difference b/w start and end column at same row and consider it as text length and then pass it as text length parameter like below

I am not sure whether that would work, but it is worth giving try that way 🙂
