Updating a SQL table from a sharepoint list

Posted on by

Hello,

I am trying to build a flow that would update a SQL table from a Sharepoint list every 30 mins. I used the automate in Sharepoint to generate a flow but when run it fails and it goes on a infinite loop of failing without Sharepoint being updated, so I turned it off.

I just added a condition because I heard that it will stop the loop, but don't know what to put in it.

Any ideas or examples that may help me better understand and solve this issue?

Thanks,

Jvang

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    You shouldn't have to use the 'get items' step since you are only retrieving one record at a time from SharePoint -- whichever one has been newly created. The flow will then run for each new item that gets created.

    So you should theoretically only need two steps:

    1. When an item is created or modified (Sharepoint)
    2. Insert row (SQL)

    Use the field returned from the first step to insert the correct columns in step 2

    @NuttyPistons,

    I tried the to do it that way and it goes on an infinite loop and gives me an error code 429.

    Thanks,

    Jvang

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    You could try turning on concurrency control and setting it to 1 (in Settings, by clicking the ellipsis in the top right of your SQL step). That should stop the flow from being throttled.

    @NuttyPistons,

    I don't see that option.

    Apologies -- that setting will be available in the Sharepoint step, not SQL.

    @NuttyPistons,

    No worries, I tried it and it is giving me a waiting status and when updating my SP list, the data doesn't go over to SQL and the status still says waiting.
