Portal disappeared. Management Model App shown. NO Portal type shown

I built a Custom portal in Nov/2019 as a prototype.

I now look and the Management Model-Drive app is there, with all the configuration intact, but not the Portal type entry so no website.

It was in the default environment and guess it was deleted as it was not promoted to production after 30 days?

I've looked in the 365 audit trail on Dynamics activities but it doesn't reveal anything available before April so don't know.

Can I recreate the Portal from the existing configuration?

If not can I export or copy those records?

You can still use the Configuration Migration/XrmToolBox Portal Records Mover and export the data, as it is still there

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/admin/migrate-portal-configuration#:~:text=Migration%20involves%20exporting%20the%20existing,portal%2Dspecific%20configuration%20schema%20file.

    https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/plugins/MscrmTools.PortalRecordsMover/

Usually my trials expire together, both Portals and CDS, so I am not sure you can still just create a new Portal pointing to the same instance, I guess you can

but still would be better to make a copy just as a backup

    Hi Oliver,

Thank you. It was encouraging but the export failed on missing entities but they do exist.

See screen shot example for adx_contentsnippet.

On the tenant I had already updated the Portal solution so trust structure okay.

With the tool there is no option to point to an Environment so has it looked in another environment?

The Portal was configured in default.

Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, richard

    Hi @Gatwick

    As per MS doc,

A portal is always created as a trial. A trial portal, which expires after 30 days, is useful for trying out its capabilities at no cost. After it expires, the portal is suspended and shut down. Seven days after it's suspended, the trial portal is deleted. You'll be notified at every stage of the portal lifecycle—nearing suspension, suspended, deleted, and converted from trial to production—through toast notifications and email.

Thanks for the update and references.

I now understand that the Portal app is deleted. Which I guess is the removal of all resources in Azure.

I have also learnt that by creating a Portal from Blank than the previous configuration is used and the portal reappears. Magic.

The same happens if a portal is reset.

Create portal from blank reuses the Model Drive app to recreate the portal.

It also seems that to migrate the Portal with the Configuration Management Tool the Portal app also needs to be in place, not just the Model Apps entities.

I've still not completely sussed how to choose different environments in the same tenant, sometimes I get a choice, the other day I didn't, will have to do more work to fully understand.  Cheers, Richard
