Do Power Apps Portal users logging time entries against Dynamics 365 Project Operations also need a Team Member license?

Imagine a customer has the following set-up:

  • Power Apps Portal with a Dynamics 365 Project Operations back-end.

  • There are 4000 Power Apps Portal users, The users logon to the Portal to create/update/delete records on the "Time Entry" table, which is a Dynamics 365 Project Operations table.

  • The 4000 portal users do not need access to any other Dynamics 365 Project Operations capabilities.

  • The 4000 portal users have an account in a separate Azure AD, and the Portal is setup to authenticate against that alternative AD.

  • Authenticated Portal users are licensed via user Power Apps Portal license tiers.

Qs:

  • Do these portal users also need a Team Member license in order to be able to create/update/delete these Time Entry records via the Power Apps portal?
  • Or would the portal user license be enough?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Handleman

You just need a power app per license or per user license. Official reference below

In addition, as @Anonymous  mentioned you need to purchase capacity-addons.

    Hope it helps.

Hello @Handleman  , based on the clear use cases you provided , a regular portal license should be enough to interact with dataverse  (create , update and delete) but it requires a portal license that has sufficient login capacity consistent to usage.

    hope this help
